Software for design of gating and risering systems
The first expert system in this field was NovaCast´s Foundry Technology™, launched in 1981.
This system has grown considerably and is today used by leading foundries in 35 countries.
Foundry Technology III™ is a software package mainly for design of gating and risering systems. 16 subprograms are included: Weight Estimation, Modulus Estimation, Feeding Distance Estimation, Riser Size Calculation, Riser Neck Design, Horizontal Gating, Filter Calculation, Interactive Gating, Metallurgical Calculation, Disamatic gating, Velocity-based gating, Centrifugal slagtrap, Mold weighting, Alloy Database Editor, Filter Database Editor and Project.
The foundry can enter their best practice by means of a learning function, which updates the database for methods and alloy factors based on actual results. The specific knowledge in a foundry can thereby be accumulated. Foundry Technology III™ allows calculations of pressurized and non-pressurized, as well as velocity and modulus-based gating systems. Basic data about each project can be stored and retrieved from the Projects file.
