1、Use the menu 'Material' (Assign Material Group / SET MAT) to set the material group CUTBOX.
2、Construct a cuboid enclosing the section that is symmetrical to the not enclosed parts of the geometry and that surround the corresponding mold area. There is no transport of energy via the surfaces of the cutbox. Only the cut sides are inside the mold. The other sides must be outside the mold so that the mold can transfer heat to the environment.
3、Now use the keyboard command SET CBF to set the part of the geometry that you have cut out. This factor results from your casting system's symmetry. The calculation of the simulation is fastest if you choose the smallest possible symmetric region of your geometry.
参数选择:SET CBF factor
1  Whole real geometry (can be used for quasi 2D simulations)
2  A half of the real geometry
4 A fourth of the real geometry
8 An eight of the real geometry


注:1、You can use a cutbox only with symmetric geometries. Using a cutbox to reduce the size of the calculation domain for unsymmetric geometries can lead to incorrect simulation results.
2、Please note during construction that the program identifies the symmetry plane's position by the fact that geometry elements are constructed outside the cutbox. Only then the symmetry boundary conditions will be set correctly. The outer surfaces of the cutbox must definitely lie outside the mold.
3、Note that the pouring rate defined in the simulation window 'filling definitions' is independent of any cutbox factor ('filling depends on' / 'pouring rate', 'filling depends on' ). Always define the true pouring rate there, related to the total cavity volume. Please also note that the 'info' menu of the MAGMASOFT® main interface always lists the true volumes and masses.
4、In the 'protocol listing' window, which appears after selecting the entry with the same name from the 'info' menu ('protocol listing' ), the defined cutbox factor is indicated under 'Material definitions'.
